Cider ‘n Cheese: Exploring Two Local Products

Event date: May 2018

Have you enjoyed locally produced cider? Locally produced cheese? Slow Food Corvallis spent an evening at 2 Towns Ciderhouse for an exploration of these two delicious products.

Our evening began with Adam Cocker, Specialty and New Product Development Cidermaker at 2 Towns, who gavve us an inside look at the history of the company, discussed how they source their ingredients and how cider is made, topped off with a tasting of the final product. There was also an opportunity to see the production room where small specialty batches of cider are made.

We also welcomed Mariano Battro of La Mariposa cheese. Mariano, native of Argentina, explained how he makes his various cheeses and led us through a tasting of several varieties including some made with raw milk. Do you think you would be able to taste the difference between a raw-milk cheese and a pasteurized-milk cheese?

Both 2 Towns and La Mariposa had their products available for purchase.
