Responding to Food-System Collapse in New Orleans

Event date: December 2020

A Zoom Conversation with David Beriss

Hurricane Ida temporarily broke New Orleans's already fragile food system, leaving grocery stores empty and refrigerators and freezers full of rotting food. David Beriss, an anthropologist at the University of New Orleans, will tell us about the varied ways local businesses, individuals, and activist organizations responded. Together, we'll consider how we can keep future weather-related disasters from causing widespread hunger.
